For most Minnesota lawns, a weekly schedule is ideal. During the peak growing season in spring, the grass grows quickly and needs consistent cutting to maintain the "One-Third Rule," ensuring we never remove more than a third of the grass blade at once.

In the Twin Cities area, fall is the premier time for core aeration. This allows the roots to breathe and absorb nutrients before winter. Spring is also an option if your soil is heavily compacted from winter snow.

Not necessarily. While aeration is great annually, dethatching (power raking) is usually needed every 2–3 years or when the "thatch" layer of dead organic matter exceeds half an inch, preventing water from reaching the soil.

For liquid treatments, we recommend staying off the grass until it is completely dry (usually 2–4 hours). For granular treatments, it is best to wait 24 hours or until after the lawn has been watered and the granules have dissolved.

Deep and infrequent watering is better than light daily sprinkling. Aim for about 1 inch of water per week, delivered in the early morning hours (4 AM – 8 AM) to reduce evaporation and prevent fungal diseases.
